Job overview

Chulmleigh Community College is a high performing, ambitious College well known for exemplary behaviour and conduct. This is a school where pupils want to learn and teachers focus upon high quality teaching. We put a very high emphasis upon the learning of French which is a core subject at this College; more than 80% of our pupils take the subject at GCSE and we intend to increase this figure over the next three years to almost 100%. We take pride in offering all our pupils, regardless of background, a challenging curriculum and the success of our strategy is quite clear via Schools Compare website .

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and motivating Teacher of French to teach all abilities across KS3 and KS4.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to inspire our ambitious pupils, supporting them to allow development of their language skills and cultivate their enjoyment of French.  We are seeking a colleague who will have high expectations of our pupils and of themselves.  The French department is housed within our new state-of-the-art school buildings.  We pride ourselves on the quality of the learning environment and you will be able to immerse yourself in your subject fully sharing the skills and expertise of our outstanding MFL Department.

We have increased our MFL teaching provision from September 2019 to support our pupils’ outstanding achievements. We are seeking applications from teachers who want to join a hard-working, well organised, agile, happy and orderly school.  Experienced and newly qualified teachers will both be considered; attracting the right teacher is key for us.  The successful candidate will be required to start in November 2020 with the work pattern being two days/three days alternating weekly.

In February 2018, an Ofsted inspection confirmed we were a Good College where pupils consistently make exceptional progress. GCSE results at the College are consistently outstanding. We are delighted with the outstanding +0.42 P8 success achieved by our students in 2019, which is some way above the national and county average. Ebacc results have consistently been the best in the county and amongst the best in the region and our commitment to languages underpins this.
