Job overview

We are seeking a self-motivated, supportive and inspiring teacher who has experience in teaching French across Key Stages 3 – 4; we currently do not offer MFL in our Sixth Form but would very much like to. You will be an excellent teacher who is passionate about your subject and able to inspire and motivate students to learn.

You would be joining a well-established and cohesive team of colleagues, with good links across other schools as part of the Mercian Academy Trust, with excellent opportunities for development. Q3 Tipton has high expectations for all students and is one of nine schools in the Mercian Academy Trust. We embed the ethos of the Trust: “To live life to the full in pursuit of that which is good, right and true” and are passionate about social equality within our community.

“Pupils understand expectations and appreciate the positive environment. Teachers treat pupils as individuals, and pupils welcome this. Pupils feel confident to ‘be themselves’ in this inclusive community” (Ofsted, 2022). Following Ofsted in December 2022, we are looking to expand our Modern Foreign Languages department to continue in our journey of excellence, working to support and develop opportunities for our students within our community.

We are looking for someone to join us in September 2023 but if you are available earlier we can accommodate this. We also offer Early Career Teachers the opportunity to start with us on 1 July 2023.

The Academy is looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent subject knowledge in modern foreign languages;
  • A track record of inspiring students in MFL, enabling them to achieve outstanding results;
  • Inspiring and creative ideas to make MFL subjects accessible to a range of abilities;
  • The ability to understand and work with assessment data to monitor and intervene as appropriate with students.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching French across Key Stages 3-4;
  • Responsibility for adding value to every learner in each teaching group;
  • Delivering, planning and preparing lessons in accordance with the planned curriculum;
  • Contribution to curriculum design within MFL;
  • Working as part of an exceptional team that ensures creative and innovative learning and teaching occurs in every lesson;
  • Being a Form Tutor.

We welcome applications from those preferring part-time work, job shares and also those changing phase or returning to the profession. In addition we currently run a scheme for unqualified teachers to support them in gaining QTS.

We welcome visits from potential applicants; if interested please email the Head's PA at z.miah@q3tipton.org.uk

Q3 Academy Tipton and The Mercian Trust offers excellent CPD and career opportunities for staff at every stage of their career.

CVs alone are not accepted unless you have a disability that makes it difficult to complete an application form.

Closing Date: Monday 22 May 2023

Please note that you may be contacted via email throughout the recruitment process, so please check your emails regularly.

We regret we cannot contact everyone who is not selected for an interview, therefore if you do not hear from us within 28 days after submitting your application, please assume you have not been successful on this occasion.

The Mercian Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.'

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
