Job overview

Doha College is a high profile leading British International School, for children aged 3-18, offering a well-balanced, all-embracing curriculum that follows the UK National Curriculum. We are also the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world. With consistently outstanding educational achievements and excellent examination results at all levels, Doha College will be expanding over the next two years, to become a 10-form primary and 10-form secondary school operating across two campuses.

We are now looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Geography Teacher, with the ability to teach from KS3 to A Level, to start in September 2019. The post holder will be working within a highly motivated, committed and supportive team, focussed on academic success. The Geography Department consists of 4 other teachers; who live and breathe their subject and hold a great desire to disseminate this enthusiasm to students. Geography is taught from Key Stage 3 to A Level and is a popular choice for students both at GCSE and A Level. Our GCSE uptake is around 70 students and our A Level around 25. We study the AQA syllabus at GCSE and the Edexcel International A level.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating student achievement and contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission. We are looking for someone who will be an outstanding role model within the Geography Department and within the College as a whole.  Candidates should have demonstrated success in their current role, be highly motivated and successful practitioners in Geography and be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the College. A high level of subject knowledge and, above all else, a real passion for the subject is necessary. Geography classes are all mixed ability, with a high top end, which enables staff to make the subject accessible to all, and at the same time, be able to stretch the top end of the cohort.

Alongside an academic focus, the Geography Department also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, aimed at increasing learning of the subject and promoting the uptake of the subject at GCSE and A Level. This includes activities such as the Eco club and the strong links with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

A high standard of written and spoken English is an essential requirement for all our positions.

Our salary and benefits package is recognised as one of the best in the Middle East.  Our staff receive a generous tax-free salary, a monthly accommodation allowance, an annual flight allowance and a substantial settling in allowance. We also have an effective induction programme for all new staff to support relocation.  We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers who have relevant experience and excellent references.
