Job overview

Ref: 25/16

A permanent, substantial part-time post, with the possibility of full-time employment. To start in September 2016. Salary £22,707 - £37,984 p.a. pro rata.

Peter Symonds is located in Winchester, Hampshire. It is a vibrant sixth form college which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. Our unofficial College motto has long been ‘Counting in Ones’ and we work hard to make this a supportive and friendly place to study, with every student treated as an individual. Not only is this at the heart of our work with our students, but we also strive to support and value our staff in the same way.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher of Geography to join our well-qualified and dedicated team. We have over 400 students studying Geography at AS/A2 and this is a rare opportunity to join a large team which encourages sharing and collaboration, whilst also giving the individual the scope to pursue their own strengths and interests. The department is extremely well resourced and students participate in a wide range of conferences and field courses. Many go on to read Geography or Geography related subjects at university.

You will be a graduate of Geography or a related subject, being equally able to teach both physical and human geography. Above all, you will be able to demonstrate a lively and enquiring mind, with a passion for your subject. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

This is a permanent and substantial part time post (at least 0.8 FTE), with the possibility of full-time hours.

Please note that we will begin looking at applications as soon as they come in and reserve the right to appoint before the closing date.

Closing date: 12 noon on Monday 13 June 2016
Interview date: Wednesday 22 June 2016

More details and information on how to apply are available on our website at www.psc.ac.uk under Staff Vacancies. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email personnel@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number.

We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
