Redmoor Academy is a successful and oversubscribed school which converted from an 11-14 high school to an 11-16 academy in 2015. We are currently celebrating being one of the most improved schools nationally after excellent GCSE results in 2018. Our rapid expansion has led to significant investment in the school building and facilities including new classrooms, ICT provision and science laboratories. We set high aspirations within a culture of academic excellence, evidenced by a superb number of Grade 9’s and A*s in our latest set of GCSE results. Our ethos is underpinned by a strong and supportive pastoral culture which promotes pupil well-being, as we believe in the education of the whole child in order to equip them to be good citizens in society.
Our Geography department are delivering a redeveloped curriculum to KS3 students to include the use of the school’s newly-introduced knowledge organisers, with a focus on challenge to ensure that our students are ready for their GCSE studies. A key focus of the department is to ensure students can ‘Think Like a Geographer’ and develop the necessary fieldwork and extended writing skills to help them succeed. We currently follow the AQA GCSE syllabus which is proving popular amongst our students as well as integrating weekly Geography related news stories into our lessons.
The Geography team consists of vibrant, passionate and experienced teachers who are committed to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning for all of our students at Redmoor Academy. We deliver engaging lessons and are proud of the strength of teaching in our department. As a team, we are dedicated to developing our students across both key stages and we strive to make our curriculum varied and challenging in order to do so. Our department is supportive, forward thinking and in the process of evolution. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic practitioner who will contribute to the development of Geography and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement.
We are looking to appoint a dedicated, inspirational teacher which excellent subject knowledge who is committed to transforming the lives of the young people we serve. If you share our vision, we would welcome your application.
