Job overview

At Benenden we are passionate about education in its broadest sense. We are committed that every girl who studies and lives here receives a Complete Education, reaches her potential and enjoys her school days.  If this aligns with your vision, you are passionate about the next generation understanding Geography, and you would enjoy being a part of a busy girls’ selective boarding school community, we would love you to consider joining our thriving Geography Department.

Benenden offers its own generous pay structure, responsibility allowances and benefits. All staff joining the school are eligible to apply for on-site accommodation if this would suit you. Staff are provided with meals whilst on duty, catering for all tastes and dietary requirements. The School’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are also available for staff to use.

The confidence, knowledge and skills to teach Geography across our full age range of 11-18 is essential (including preparation for GCSE and A Level examinations), but we are open minded about the experience you will bring. You may already be an experienced teacher, you may have just completed your teaching qualifications, or for the right candidate with the appropriate academic credentials, a training programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status would be available so recent graduates or those graduating in 2021 are encouraged to apply.

We want to attract, retain and develop diverse talent at all levels, so that we are a great school, but also so that our students feel and understand the power and depth of a diverse community. This means recruiting from the widest possible pool of talent, removing barriers that can prevent people from showing their full potential, and fostering a fully inclusive environment which maximises collaboration and empowers everyone.

If you would like to know more about the role, or have never considered independent schools and would like to find out more, or would like to ask anything, please feel able to contact Ali Harber, Deputy Head Academic at aeh@benenden.school

To apply, please download the application pack from our website by clicking the apply button.

Completed applications should be sent to Mrs J Card, Head of HR & Compliance at recruitment@benenden.school by 09:00am Friday 23 April 2021.

The post-holder will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children with whom they come into contact. The post-holder must ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. This appointment will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks. Benenden School is committed to equal opportunities and equal pay for all employees.

Benenden is regarded as one of the leading boarding and day schools in Britain. Founded in 1923, we are situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent, the Garden of England, just an hour from London. There are 550 girls in the School, aged 11-18.

We offer every girl A Complete Education in which she realises her academic potential, grows as an individual and is well prepared for life beyond school.

This is achieved through an outstanding academic offering which will help your daughter to achieve her very best, together with unrivalled co-curricular opportunities and a dedicated focus on developing every girl's personal and professional skills.

We are proud to consistently hear that the girls at Benenden are happy and relaxed, and that there is a culture of 'stretch without stress'. Parents tell us that they simply 'got a feeling' when they visited Benenden that they knew it was the right school for their daughter.
