Job overview

TEACHER OF GEOGRAPHY

(PART-TIME c.60%)

Leicester Grammar School is one of the UK's top-performing co-educational HMC independent day schools.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher to join our talented Geography team on a part-time basis (circa 60%). It is desirable, but not essential, that   the   successful   candidate   will   demonstrate   strength and experience with teaching both A-level and GCSE Geography. We are happy to consider both experienced candidates and those who are at an early stage of their career or considering training to become a teacher with the school’s support, via the University of Buckingham PGCE.

The Geography Department is very popular, with a high uptake at IGCSE and A level. The department’s approach to teaching is to encourage curiosity by using up-to-date examples and incorporating current issues into the topics taught. The successful candidate will have an infectious enthusiasm for the value and relevance of Geography in young people’s lives and will contribute fully to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the Geography department and Leicester Grammar School generally.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please visit www.lgs-senior.org.uk/vacancies for an information pack and application form.

A completed application form and curriculum vitae, accompanied by a covering letter addressed to Mr John Watson (Headmaster and Principal of Leicester Grammar School Trust), should reach the school as soon as possible, and no later than 9am on Monday 31 January 2022. Interviews will take place the following week and will be conducted across both schools, which are in close proximity to each other.

Interviews may be held at any stage after applications are received; interested candidates are therefore advised to apply as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified deadline, if a suitable candidate is found. Short-listed candidates will be offered a tour of the schools as part of the interview process.

Applications should be emailed to recruitment@leicestergrammar.org.uk

Leicester Grammar School Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and this is reflected in its recruitment procedures. Successful candidates for posts are required to undergo safer recruitment checks which include an enhanced DBS disclosure.
