Job overview

Arden is a truly exceptional school at the heart of the community and the peak of academic excellence.

Visitors are astounded by our confident and articulate pupils. The warmth and trust between teachers and students is exemplary as is the constant drive to achieve maximum personal and academic potential.

In every way the Geography Department mirrors the aims and beliefs of the school. All staff work hard, supported by a committed management team, to provide a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Arden pupils love to acquire new knowledge and skills and our teachers relish the opportunity to deliver engaging, challenging lessons to committed pupils.

We are looking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to teach Geography across Key Stages 3 – 5. The successful candidate will be passionate about their subject and able to inspire all students to reach their full potential in this important curriculum area. The Academy welcomes applications from both NQTs and more experienced practitioners.

During KS3 the Geography Department delivers a diverse curriculum to all pupils that is well resourced and tailored to the needs of both students and teachers. High levels of engagement and progress are evident at all Key Stages and the number of pupils opting to take Geography for GCSE and A-level highlights the enthusiasm and motivation of the students.

The school has a proven record of success at GCSE and A Level.  In summer 2016 89% of pupils gained A*-C grades in 5 or more subjects with 80% of students gaining A*-C in English and Maths. 34% of GCSE grades awarded were at A*/A and 51% of pupils achieved the English Baccalaureate. At A Level 100% of pupils achieved A*-E with an average grade per candidate of B- with 16% of pupils gaining AAB or higher in facilitating subjects.

Opportunities don’t arise very often to teach at a school like Arden. If you would like to be considered for a career with us, we will need you to facilitate outstanding pupil outcomes across the whole age and ability range. The Academy provides CPD opportunities, childcare vouchers, pension and cycle to work scheme. Few other places offer the chance to simply teach motivated pupils devoted to learning.
