Teacher of Geography 

Staindrop Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious, dynamic and inspirational teacher of Geography for September 2018.  You will join our strong team of humanities teachers who are committed to developing outstanding learning and teaching for all our students across Key Stage 3 and at GCSE. 

The ideal candidate will be:

- a qualified teacher who can teach across both key stages and who has excellent  subject knowledge

- able to motivate students to achieve excellent examination results

- highly organised and have high standards of classroom management 

- an engaging and forward thinking teacher 

- able to add enthusiasm and creativity to the teaching of Geography

Possibility of a TLR to the right candidate to lead the Geography department.

Staindrop Academy is a successful 11–16 Academy. Set on the western edge of the historic village of Staindrop and overlooking rolling fields and farms, Staindrop Academy is without doubt one of the most attractively situated schools in the region.

Location - Staindrop Academy is located in the village of Staindrop at the entrance to Durham Dales. The village is 25 minutes from the centre of Darlington (from which there are mainline East Coast trains every 30 minutes), 25 minutes A1M and 40 minutes to both Newcastle and Gateshead Metrocentre. Newcastle Airport is 60 minutes away.

The coast is 45 minutes to the east and the high Pennines are 20 minutes to the west. The Lake District, Northumberland and the Yorkshire Dales can all be reached within 1 hour. The market town of Barnard Castle is 10 minutes away and has many local amenities and tourist attractions including the Bowes Museum and the historic ruin Barnard Castle. The market town Bishop Auckland is 10 minutes away and has both a Sainsbury’s and Tesco Superstore and is the location for Kynren situated below Auckland Castle. There are a number of primary schools in the surrounding area, all are judged good or outstanding. House prices compare very favourably to many other areas in the country.
