An enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Geography is required to join a thriving and successful curriculum area.

This role represents an incredibly exciting opportunity for any candidate who is eager to be a part of an organisation that seeks to secure the very highest educational standards for pupils, who has high standards, commitment, passion, and the ability to teach across the full range of age and ability, up to and including A-Level.

The department is dynamic, supportive and successful with a history of strong results at KS4 & 5. At KS3 all pupils study geography, at KS4, geography is a popular options subject and at KS5 pupils are able to opt for A Level geography courses from the Eduqas specification. Pupils study a wide range of topics from the changing nature of urban areas, to the dynamic processes at coastal locations around the UK.

As a flexible practitioner, you will teach across a wide ability range while maintaining high expectations for all learners. Up to date and relevant knowledge of the world and the processes that take place within it, both human and physical is essential. Knowledge of physical geography in particular to an excellent standard at A Level is essential, as well as a desire to help every child fulfil their potential. Experience of teaching and delivering the NEA A level content is also desirable but not essential.

St John Plessington Catholic College Voluntary Academy has been an outstanding and oversubscribed 11-18 college for more than 10 years. In 2007 and then again in 2013 it was judged by Ofsted to be outstanding in every category. The College has been a national support school since 2009 and has provided extensive school to school support since then.

This is an opportunity to join a Geography department where a love of Geography is nurtured and standards continually improve.

What we are looking for teachers who:

● Want to transform children’s lives and develop a love of geography

● Are excellent classroom practitioners

● Work well with staff and pupils alike

● Are looking to join a community of schools that promotes the formation of young people into successful citizens

● Are interested in developing their practice around the principles of mastery

We offer:

● A unique opportunity to work for a MAT which includes the lead school for Cheshire and Wirral Maths Hub, a cutting edge secondary teaching school and two primary teaching schools

● Mentoring and high level training

● Encouragement to develop your career with excellent promotion opportunities and opportunities to engage in system leadership

● A caring environment with well-being and work/life balance at its core.

● Inclusion in whole school and MAT teams – working together to achieve ambitious outcomes whilst valuing every individual’s contribution
