Teacher of Geography with Religious Studies (maternity cover)
Applications are sought for a temporary geography teacher to cover maternity leave starting mid-December 2020 (applicants who can only start in January 2021 will also be considered). The successful applicant will need to teach Geography up to Upper Sixth Form. An ability to teach some religious studies would also be advantageous. Geography is taught as part of the compulsory lower school (year 7-9) curriculum and is also a popular option at GCSE and A Level. Religious studies is taught to all First and Second Form pupils (years 7 and 8). There may be the potential for this position to be a part-time position for the right candidate. Located in the ancient town of Oswestry in the county of Shropshire, the School was founded in 1407 and, as such, lays claim to being one of the oldest truly independent schools in the country. It is located in a beautiful corner of Shropshire close to the Welsh border and enjoys a campus setting and extensive playing fields. Just 30 minutes from the market town of

As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close academic relationship between staff and students. The school adopts a traditional approach to pastoral care, uniform and behaviour. Staff have high expectations of the ability of pupils to police their own behaviour and approach their education in a mature and adult way. The school invests heavily in extra-curricular activities, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme just one of the major activities on offer.
