The Academy

Nunthorpe is a very popular outstanding co-educational 11 – 19 comprehensive converter Academy with approximately 1600 students on roll.

Nunthorpe Academy is the lead Teaching School in the North East Schools Teaching Alliance – NESTA. Through this ‘school led’ system of self-improvement we focus on the key areas of School to School Support; Professional Development; Specialist Leaders of Education and Initial Teacher Training & Succession Planning

The Department

We are a large, experienced and established department with 8 full time, 2 part time teachers, 3 SLT members on 5 hours per week, 1 School Sports Co-ordinator and also 1 full time Faculty Support Assistant.

The department offers A-Level PE (OCR), GCSE PE (OCR), Level 2 V-Cert Health and Fitness (NCFE), Sports Leaders and core PE. 

The Candidate

We require an energetic, inspirational and talented teacher.The successful candidate will have the capacity to lead and inspire. They will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning and will have a proven track record of improving outcomes for students. The successful candidate will be able to teach PE across the range of age and ability - Key Stages 3 and 4 with a passion for Extra-Curricular provision. You will also be responsible for Sport Committee meetings and assist with Sports Assemblies. You must have a commitment to extra-curricular sport and a passion to drive girls PE forward. They will have a vision for excellence in their areas of responsibility and ensure high standards are maintained at all times within the academy. Nunthorpe Academy is part of Nunthorpe Multi Academy Trust (NMAT). 

Nunthorpe Academy is a mainstream, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, and has over 1600 students. The Academy was rated “Good” in its most recent Ofsted inspection (2019) whilst the sixth form provision maintained its 'Outstanding' status.
