Teacher of Girls PE / Assistant Head of PE  (TLR 2 - £2666) 

Required September 2018 

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and proven PE teacher to work in our outstanding and successful PE department. The role of Assistant Head of PE will have responsibility for coordination and delivery of BTEC Sport, you will assist in leading and managing the department with direct responsibility for maintaining outstanding practice in either or both BTEC First and BTEC National level courses for all of our KS4 and 5 students. We would envisage a timetable comprising 60 – 70% of BTEC delivery.

You will be joining an excellent and high-performing subject team who both support and learn from each other. Results in 2017 for the department were GCSE PE: 94 % A*-C, 47% A*-A with an APS of 47.24 above FFT 20, BTEC First Sport: 92% L2 pass or higher with an APS of 41.19 in line with FFT 50 targets. BTEC National Sport achieved: APS 226 vs a target of 217 (Distinction).

Idsall School is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 rural school which has maintained its Sports College ethos, achieving excellent results. Idsall was described by OFSTED (May 2013 and 2017) as a good and improving school where students achieve well and leave the school with results that are above the national average. All judgements were good.

Idsall School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary with sixth form in Shifnal, Shropshire. The school has been an academy since 2014, and has on average 1330 students on the school register with 200 in sixth form. The historic market town of Shifnal is a few minutes from Junction 4 of the M54 motorway. The school is within 5 minutes walking distance of the town centre railway station which has excellent transport links from Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and Birmingham. The school is located a short distance from Shifnal Primary School. The school motto translates from Latin as ‘from little acorns large oaks grow’. Idsall School was once the nearest secondary comprehensive to Lillleshall FA Academy, and can claim the record for the school to have educated the most England internationals.
