Teacher of Girls PE Vacancy

Required for September 2023

MPS / UPS

In partnership with the Archdiocese of Birmingham, the Lumen Christi Board of Directors and School Standards Committee of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher in the PE Faculty from January 2023.

St Thomas Aquinas is a large and thriving Catholic comprehensive school in the south of Birmingham. Along with seven local primary schools, it is part of growing Catholic Multi Academy. It is a place where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission. In November 2018 the school was judged to be ‘Good’ by OFSTED. We are proud to be an oversubscribed and examination results in summer 2022 were excellent and unvalidated data places the school in the top 20% of all schools nationally.

The school has improved using a knowledge-based approach; the highest standards of behaviour and academic challenge for all regardless of background.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Teacher of Girls PE. The suitable candidate will join a committed team of specialists with a strong tradition of working together. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic teacher who has the ability and confidence to make a huge impact to our students’ education from day one. We are looking for someone who:

  • is passionate and enthusiastic about Physical Education.
  • is motivated and passionate about working in a richly diverse educational community.
  • be forward-thinking and able to inspire students and staff within a culture of high standards, expectations and outcomes for all.
  • have excellent communication skills to forge positive relationships with students, parents, teachers and support staff.
  • is willing and able to teach GCSE, Cambridge National, and Cambridge Technical classes.
  • has a commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team and working strategically with the Head of Faculty and other post-holders.
  • will support in extra-curricular and fixture events.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to be part of something special and make a huge contribution in a major Catholic comprehensive school.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to informally come and visit the school.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful candidates.

Closing date for applications is 9.00 a.m. Friday, 10 February 2023

Shortlisting will take place on Friday, 10 February 2023

Interviews will take place on Tuesday, 14 February 2023
