Job overview

Teacher of Girls PE

The BOA Group is a Multi-Academy Trust of specialist academies located in Birmingham city centre, in the hub of the creative and digital industries. Though based in Birmingham, the academies recruit from across the wider Midlands region.

BOA Digital Technologies, a brand new 11-18 Free School, welcomed its first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2022. By September 2024 we will be full with children in year 7 through to 9. The school will continue to grown organically until we are an academy of 900 with 300 in the sixth form. Our vision is to offer a truly unique and distinctive education and provide a new model of teaching underpinned by digital skills and learning. Located in the heart of Birmingham’s growing technology and digital hub, close to industrial and academic partners, and with first-class facilities, BOA Digital is looking to meet the UK’s growing need for a high-class digital workforce.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, confident and enthusiastic teacher of girls PE. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing department. The academy has an excellent sports hall, in addition to an activity studio and some outdoor PE space.

There are a good range of resources available for teaching but equally, we would love to hear your ideas about how you could deliver PE using digital technologies. Many of our students are keen sportsmen and women and enjoy our good range of extra-curricular clubs and team opportunities.

You will encourage a climate of mutual support in which self-confidence and self-esteem can grow and an effective department team is established and nurtured.

The role is suitable to either an ECT or experienced teacher. A full induction package and CPD opportunities are offered to help develop your teaching practice.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A strong track record as a teacher of PE, with a passion that is evident in their day-to-day classroom practice.
  • Qualified teacher status and a degree.
  • The ability to inspire high achievement in students from all backgrounds.
  • The ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff to develop and manage projects.
  • Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to guide students’ academic, personal and professional development, as a tutor, in accordance with the academy’s guidelines and procedures.
  • An understanding of the key national and educational policies and issues.
  • Presence, enthusiasm, good sense of humour and approachability.
  • An excellent record of punctuality.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the future of education within a world class academy. If you share the academy’s vision and ambitions, possess a strong desire to work within an ethos of creative collaboration and partnership and want to have a positive impact on young people, families, and the community then we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Closing date for applications is 12pm on Monday 22nd April at noon.

Interviews will be held during this week although suitable applicants may be invited for interview before the application process finishes.
