The department has a long-standing history of success at local, county and national levels across a range of sports. We are privileged to boast amazing facilities on both our campuses, including multiple sports halls, dance studios, numerous outdoor pitches, a full outdoor athletics facility and purpose-built gymnasiums. We have strong links with local clubs and community providers. We are seeking to appoint a strong all-rounder, with a games background preferred but not essential. Support and professional development are a priority at Ark Alexandra Academy. We invest in our teachers by providing regular coaching, career planning and weekly training sessions. We have an “open door” lesson policy at Ark Alexandra which ensures you receive extensive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be. We take the well-being of our staff seriously, as we recognise that education can be a challenging profession. We offer health benefits such as a subsidised gym membership and Employee Assistance Programme or if you prefer retail therapy, staff discounts via the Ark Rewards scheme.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a female.

As the ideal candidate you will:

• Be committed to raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment

• Have a resilient character and a strong personal drive

• Have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities

• Be committed to continually improving classroom practice

At Ark Alexandra our purpose is simple and clear – that every student be able to go to university or into a career of their choice. Ark Alexandra is a large secondary academy with a Sixth Form provision in Hastings, East Sussex and is the largest secondary in the successful Ark network. A popular school that is heavily over-subscribed, we have grown to have over 1,600 students this year.

Our school is on an exciting rapid upward trajectory. From September 2024, Ark Alexandra will operate as one school across two 6FE campuses. We take a traditional and research-based approach to education with a primacy placed on cognitive science, scholarship and what the best schools do. We are a no-nonsense school where staff can focus their efforts on teaching great lessons. Our focus on extra-curricular activities including DofE, Cadets and rewards trips ensures our students benefit from a range of exciting opportunities.
