Job overview

Are you an ambitious, enthusiastic teacher ready to take up a new challenge in a widely respected international school? Do you have knowledge and experience or interest in teaching at GCSE or A Level and possibly within the IB? Are you looking to work with enthusiastic and committed students and in a country where schools take well-being seriously and where an appropriate work/life balance is a priority?

The British school currently has 2500 students in five schools within the Hague area. Within our school we have three junior schools, and two senior schools. The Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) has 1150 students on roll and the new Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL), which opened in 2018, currently has students in Years 7 and 8.

SSV has a long tradition of success in many areas including Sport, Drama, and Music, with students also participating in opportunities provided by organisations such as the Model United Nations and Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

We are currently looking for a full-time, 'Teacher of girls PE' for our SSV campus, just outside of The Hague, from August 2020. Applicants must be educated to at least degree level and have Qualified Teacher Status. Specific expertise in Hockey and/or Gymnastics would be helpful but is not essential.

You will form part of a team of seven talented PE professionals who work collaboratively in a well-resourced environment under the excellent leadership of Head of Department, Chris Wade. PE is taught throughout the school (Years 7 – 13) and we also have three groups at GCSE (Edexcel), and two A level groups (AQA) in our Sixth Form.

PE and Sport facilities include a four-court indoor sports hall, dance studio, fitness centre, and full size 3G pitch.

Co-curricular sport is flourishing at our school and BSN students play regularly in Football, Rugby, Hockey and Basketball teams within Dutch leagues. We have frequent fixtures with international schools within the Netherlands and with schools in London, Brussels and Paris. The BSN is a lead school within the International Schools Athletics Association (ISAA), an organisation comprising 14 schools from across Europe and parts of the Middle East, and whose members organise tournaments in a variety of sports.
