Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and energetic Girls PE teacher with the skills and aptitude to teach PE. You will be part of a thriving and passionate team who teach across the academic and vocational pathways. A willingness to engage with the rich programme of extra –curricular activities is essential.  Applications from those able to teach a core subject as a second subject are particularly welcome but not essential.

George Salter Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in the West Midlands, serving students from the age of 11-19. The secondary school, situated in Sandwell has approximately 1,220 students on record. It is sponsored by the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT).

George Salter Academy converted to academy status in 2007.

George Salter Academy’s aim is for all students to develop in knowledge, confidence and ability in a caring and inclusive learning environment. The secondary school works to recognise the individual needs of pupils so that they can reach their potential and succeed to the highest of their ability. It is important to the school that students enjoy their time in education and that they become engaged in an interesting and varied learning curriculum, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of a modern and ever changing society. It is vital to the school that a close partnership is formed between parents, staff and students to produce outstanding results. The school also lets out its facilities to locals and businesses in the area, recognising its role to serve the community. Students are encouraged to get involved with extra-curricular activities to expand their opportunities and gain in confidence, ranging from cooking to photography club.
