TEACHER OF GIRLS PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Full Time from September 2018
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy requires an outstanding, motivated and dedicated female teacher of Physical Education, to join a vibrant, committed and innovative Faculty that is keen to enhance our strong reputation for school sport.
The ideal candidate will be an all-round PE specialist with superb subject knowledge and a passion for Physical Education across all key stages. You would be part of a highly successful and creative Department that is driven to provide the very best opportunities for our students. You will have opportunities to teach students from Year 7 upwards and be involved with the delivery of a variety of extra-curricular activities.
Our core curriculum is designed to provide both physical challenge and opportunities that are suitable for all our students to develop a passion and aptitude for PE and sport. We also currently offer the Edexcel GCSE course in KS4 and in KS5 the Edexcel BTEC level 3 Sport and OCR A Level Physical Education. Supporting those students that are interested in PE academically and wish to study it further.
The Physical Education Faculty has excelled national attainment for examined qualifications for the past 2 years and is forward thinking in its approach and delivery of PE. We are recognised as one of the leading PE departments in Wiltshire for both participation and success in school sport, with an array of excellent facilities including sports hall, gymnasium, full size astro turf, swimming pool, tennis/netball courts, specialist PE classroom and extensive fields in a picturesque setting.
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is a highly successful and very proud 11-18 school with 1,760 students on roll including 321 students in our Sixth Form and is ranked in the The Times Top 20 Secondary Schools in the South West. It is geographically situated in a pleasant location with Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds all within commuting distance.
In December 2010, the school was awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted. They described our students as “…an absolute delight.” and “in every area of the School they carry out exemplary practice.” In November 2013, the Academy was again awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted where they stated “Around the school, students are polite and courteous to each other, to members of staff and to visitors. Students listen attentively in lessons, and almost always respond rapidly to teachers’ instructions”. As far as we are aware, Royal Wootton Bassett is the only school in the country to be awarded this prestigious accolade in succession.
