Teacher of Girls' Sport

We are looking to appoint an all-round female Teacher of Girls' sport - cricket, hockey, netball, football, mixed PE, rounders, tennis and athletics. Please note: this role includes pastoral support elements and sports logistics e.g. supervising female changing rooms, where privacy and decency are of paramount importance and where our pupils will feel safer if their teacher is female. The teaching of girls’ sports can and often is undertaken by male teachers; however, due to the overall combination of duties and the under-representation of female staff in the department, we believe that we currently have a Genuine Occupation Requirement for a female shortlist as permitted under the Equality Act 2010.

This position is ideally to start as soon as possible. If you are only able to start in January 2023, please do apply as we are able to cover the position in the meantime. Essential to this position is an ability to teach Girls' sport, as well as either a BA QTS or a BSc Sport Science and PCGE qualification. Desirable for this position is a holder of the UKCC Level 2 in Coaching of any Girls' sports, such as cricket, hockey, netball and/or football, as well as a qualification in First Aid.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment within the PE & Games department and should be able to inspire and motivate students through a diverse range of learning styles. You should be able to work on ad hoc Saturdays and Sundays for sporting fixtures, as well as for periods during school holidays for match tours or other school trips. Involvement with these latter responsibilities will particularly suit a teacher with strong organisational and communication skills. We are looking for a teacher who consistently models excellent practice and can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department.
