Job overview

You would be joining us at an incredibly exciting time in the School’s history. Rated “outstanding” by Ofsted in 2015 and celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, Central Foundation is the top performing non-selective all boys school in the country based on 2016 GCSE outcomes. In 2016, 84% of our Year 11 students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths while our Progress 8 was 0.65. Our Sixth Form is in the top 15% of all post 16 providers in the country.

We are seeking to appoint a Graphics teacher, a creative practitioner who will contribute to establishing a technology hub at our school. Central Foundation is located on the Old Street Silicon Roundabout and at the heart of the Tech City, which offers a range of amazing opportunities for our students. The post is open to both NQTs as well as more experienced teachers. A TLR point for leading on the Graphics course is available for a professional who is looking to take more responsibility within a department.

It is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and creative individual who is passionate about technology. The department is very well resourced. We have state of the art facilities. There is a very well equipped CAD/CAM room, a laser cutter, 3D printer, MDX40 router, 2D Design Adobe suite, and Solid Works. The Resistant Materials room is fully resourced with workshop machinery including wood and metal lathes.

We are very ambitious in our aim to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. We set high standards for all professionals working at the school but we also provide a very strong net of support for both new and existing colleagues.

The behaviour of students is outstanding and the disciplined environment allows the teachers to focus on delivering great academic outcomes.

In terms of the Technology curriculum, we currently offer:

  • At KS5 – Product Design
  • At KS4 – Graphics, Resistant Materials and Food Technology
  • At KS3 – in Year 7, 8 and 9 Technology is delivered in a block rotation; the students work on termly projects.

Central Foundation is:

  • an outstanding school (Ofsted, February 2015)
  • a school that is situated in a vibrant multi-cultural environment next to the ‘silicon roundabout’ on the edge of the City of London
  • not a typical boys’ school, over half the staff are female
  • a school with excellent transport links.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check.
