Job overview
This is a substantial part-time post of importance to the Health and Social Care provision at the College. The contract is for 17 teaching hours per week across 5 days. We are looking for someone who will be professionally focused on the teaching of Health and Social Care, and is able and keen to teach a range of units within the qualifications.
The Health & Social Care team comprises 6 teachers including the Head of Department. The team is hard-working with a student-centred ethos, responding to the range and diversity of student needs. In recent student feedback Health & Social Care was picked out as a subject in which the level of individual support was very high, and much valued. Much development work has been done to ensure the courses provide a strong vocational focus, preparedness for employment in the sector, and work placements which are an important part of the provision. Health and Social Care is part of the larger department of Health & Social Care, Sociology and Early Years.
As a successful candidate, you will be committed, hard-working and with a desire to bring the subject and vocational area to life with imaginative learning activities, good vocational content and relevant well-managed assessment. The successful applicant will be well supported and could look forward to contributing to a committed hard-working team and sharing the rewards of teaching our sixth-form learners.
This contract is part of a maternity cover arrangement. It will commence as soon as the successful candidate is available and will be on a part-time, temporary basis until 31st May 2019 or until the maternity cover arrangement ends, whichever is sooner. The position is for approximately 0.7 full-time equivalent. Teaching is timetabled for 17 hours over the full week.
