We are looking for someone who can improve on that already outstanding performance.
We are a thriving, ambitious and forward thinking 11-18 academy situated on the edge of the beautiful Lake District. Our modern £26m building provides outstanding facilities, incorporating cutting edge technology which creates a bright and motivational learning environment. As a Teaching School and Multi Academy Trust we are building strong links with other schools in the local area and nationally. This role therefore provides significant career development opportunities as we continue to grow. We offer a comprehensive programme of individualised, evidence based CPD as well as encouraging colleagues to further their development through courses such as the National Professional Qualifications, a Masters degree, or supporting extra-curricular qualifications.
The academy’s Sponsors - Sellafield Limited, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the University of Central Lancashire have each played an important role in its success and are committed to its continued improvement.
The academy has been heavily oversubscribed for the past 5 years, last year seeing 438 applications for 180 places. At the time of advertising we have 1236 students on roll.
As well as our Teaching School Alliance, we are part of the Western Lakes Teaching Schools Alliance and are building strong links with other schools in the area. We offer a comprehensive programme of CPD.
We are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching facilities and have 21st century ICT facilities to provide a truly outstanding learning environment. We benefit considerably from our sponsors, Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. We also have close links with our Education Partner, UCLan.
We have an exciting opportunity for a committed, inspirational and forward thinking Teacher of History and Religious Studies to join the academy. The successful candidate will have an unwavering belief in the potential of every student to succeed within both subjects, and will have the contagious enthusiasm for the subjects which excites and motivates students across all Key Stages. Students at West Lakes Academy can opt to study History at GCSE and A Level and Religious Studies is a core component of our curriculum, all students from Years 7 to 11 attend Religious Studies lessons weekly.
