Job overview

Carlton Bolling is a rapidly improving school, which has the highest expectations of its students and the ambition to be outstanding within the next few years.
It is a great place to work with staff surveys and extremely low staff turnover evidence of this, with the recent Ofsted report noting “An impressive shift in the views of staff and parents about the college, which are overwhelmingly positive”.

Major factors behind this are:

  • Small Class Sizes: An average of 15 in English and Maths classes across all year groups, with 18 in Humanities and around 22 for all other subjects. This allows teachers to do the best job possible and also eases the burden of marking to allow a proper work-life balance.
  • Well Behaved Students: Teachers can do the job they came in to teaching to do –teach not control behaviour.
  • Reducing Unnecessary Meetings and Red Tape: We believe in completing a job rather than talking or writing about it.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, innovative, and highly skilled History Teacher who will motivate and excite young people, raising their expectations and turn students with promise into skilful learners. A candidate who also has the potential to inspire, support and motivate colleagues in raising attainment and is open to coaching and development in order to progress their career and practice.

Salary: MPS/UPS

The successful candidate will be committed to build on the strong foundations now firmly in place within Humanities and will be contributing to developing a faculty which has:

  • A commitment to the continued improvement of pupil progress at KS3 and 4
  • A dedicated Humanities team who are hardworking and enthusiastic
  • A supportive and collaborative ethos

If you are hard-working, ambitious to be the best, and genuinely have the interests of students at heart, we would be pleased to hear from you.
For more information and to request an application pack please contact Lisa Reeder, HR Business Support.

We welcome visits to the school; to arrange a convenient time please contact Mrs Sarah Charlton, Assistant Head for CPD.

Closing date for applications:  Monday 6th February 2017 – 8.00am
Interviews to be held: w/c Monday 6th February 2017

The College has adopted the principles of Safer Recruitment and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to do the same.  Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and subscribe to the DBS update service.  Carlton Bolling College is an equal opportunities employer.
