William Ellis School is a boys’ school with a large mixed sixth form in the north of Camden. It is in an attractive site on the edge of Hampstead Heath with excellent access to Central London.  It is a neighbourhood of great social and cultural diversity, and this diversity is very well represented at William Ellis.

Teacher of History – suitable for NQTs

You would be joining the well-established and successful History department and teach History across all key stages. Teaching is consistently excellent throughout the department, and this is demonstrated in student outcomes and high take-up at GCSE and A Level. The Head of Subject and experienced team are open to innovation and change but are also in a position to support the development of a colleague who is keen to enhance their professional expertise. They work closely with other local History departments as part of a Camden partnership and this has supported the development of a clear and rigorous assessment scheme as part of the new Key Stage 3 curriculum. The successful candidate may be given the opportunity to teach A Level Politics if this is appropriate to their experience and expertise.

The successful candidate will be:

· a highly motivated and inspirational classroom practitioner

· committed to maximising pupil progress through setting high standards and by delivering effective teaching and learning

· able to motivate, lead, support and challenge students to be successful

William Ellis School is a voluntary-aided, non-denominational comprehensive school in the London Borough of Camden, serving the secondary educational needs of boys in the diverse local community and of girls in the Sixth Form.
