Teacher of History

Part time - 0.6 FTE over 4 days (Tuesday – Friday)

We are looking for an excellent Teacher of History with a passion for education. The post will suit a well-qualified graduate, committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience for every pupil. History is a popular and successful subject at Woldingham. The department consists of a team of 4 highly committed historians who work with a focus on independent learning. There is a culture of sharing resources and ideas. 

History has always been a popular subject across the school and consistently achieves strong results at GCSE and A Level. The students’ passion for the subject is not constrained to the curriculum and there is an active History Society. Each year a handful of girls read History at university, including Oxbridge. At both GCSE and A Level we follow AQA specifications, which allow for a breadth of topics to be studied. For example at A Level we look at Making of Modern Britain 1951-2007, USA: The Making of a Superpower 1865-1975 and the coursework focuses on Tudor England. The History department work closely together and there is a strong culture of sharing resources and ideas.

The ability to teach History across all Key Stages and up to A Level is essential, combined with first-rate organisational, team working and ICT skills.
