We are seeking a suitably qualified teacher of History from January 2023. We are a popular Academy, consistently oversubscribed and maintaining high quality academic outcomes. History is an extremely popular subject within a vibrant Humanities Faculty. It plays a crucial part in the high number of students choosing and achieving Ebacc, delivers excellent results and gives students memorable experiences to take with them on their learning journey.

 

As a member of a strong and well established team, you will teach students across the ability range and foster a love of History through teaching which supports, engages and challenges learners to achieve their best. You will join a History department, and Humanities Faculty which are popular and successful subject with our students.

 

Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers seeking development into future subject leadership and from early career teachers. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the age and ability range.

Hummersknott Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in Darlington, County Durham. At its most recent inspection there were 1,228 students aged 11-16 on the school roll. 

Hummersknott Academy was founded in 1955 as a girls’ high school and converted to academy status in 2012. In 2007, the school underwent an extensive £15 million regeneration project. The area of Hummersknott is located in the west of Darlington and has a population of around 3,500. Extensive facilities at the school include a dance studio, ceramics area, recording studio, sports hall and a 3G artificial football pitch.
