Join a team that’s as ambitious as you are.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of History, passionate about their subject and dedicated to improving their practice. Our thriving history department is looking for an inspirational teacher who is enthusiastic and passionate about history and committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for students.

The history team has a breadth of experience of teaching along with support for ECTs, and works closely within the Humanities faculty with Geography and Psychology. As an EBACC subject, history has a strong GCSE cohort every year, and is a popular A level choice. Our curriculum ensures that students access a diverse range of topics from KS3 to KS5.

We are building systems and a culture for continuous improvement within the department through collaborative planning of resources, regular CPD sessions, and frequent, low-stakes feedback through learning walks. The increase in allocation of KS3 history and geography hours means that we also have fantastic curriculum opportunities for the next academic year. Both ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will also be a committed team player whose values align with ours:

·        Leading by example

·        Dedication to learning and achievement

·        Working together

·        Respect for individuals

·        Demonstrating honesty, openness and fairness

We have created a high-quality Academy with the highest levels of achievement and self-discipline, and a broad, dynamic curriculum designed to help students achieve the highest personal and academic standards. We believe excellence is achieved through three key ingredients: clear structures, high expectations and strong relationships. Our outstanding curriculum is built around 'The City Experience' which places equal value on academic, creative, sporting, linguistic and personal development.

We pride ourselves on being a school which offers young people a warm and supportive environment, enabling them to meet our very high expectations. In return, The Academy provides them with an excellent education both in terms of examination success and personal development helping them develop all the skills and values they will need to be successful in later life.

We are looking for staff who are committed to working with students of all abilities, who constantly seek to learn and improve and who are ambitious for themselves as well as for their students. We expect hard work, skill and dedication, and in return will provide a supportive, flexible working environment, first class training opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

There is a far reaching commitment to ensuring that all of our staff are given the access to excellent development and induction programmes. There is also a clear imperative, driven by Senior staff, to minimise bureaucracy and maximise impact, which to date has been hugely welcomed by staff and produced outstanding results for our students.

The City Academy is a very special place to work. If you think you want to join us in creating an exceptional Academy which transforms the opportunities for the community we serve then I would love to hear from you.
