An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dynamic suitably qualified teacher of History who has a real passion for the subject and who is capable of teaching across all key stages, with the capability of inspiring, challenging and stimulating students. The History Department at Vyners is a successful one, both within the school context and against the national backdrop. Our students are enthusiastic and inquisitive and seek to reach the high expectations we have for them. The 2017 GCSE results in History were 72% A*-C and 37% A*-A (compared to the national average of 65% and 25% respectively). In addition, A Level History results are well above the national average and many of our students go on to study History at university. The department currently comprises of two full time members of staff, all of whom are trained specialists and the department is well resourced in terms of interactive technology and textbooks. The ethos at the heart of the department is one of enthusiasm, rigour and collaboration.
Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed six form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. At A-Level 30% of all grades were A* - A and 55% A* - B. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is the lead school in the Vyners Learning Trust which also includes a primary school.
