Job overview

Do you love teaching students about the fascinating world they live in?  If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The role

We are looking to appoint a teacher of history to join our dynamic history department from September 2020.  The role will suit a history teacher who is ready for a new challenge to develop their practice in a forward thinking, creative and dedicated team, who are passionate about giving students the opportunity to learn about the world's history.

What KAA offers

Our history department is made up talented staff who all have a true passion for the subject of history. Because of this, there are regular opportunities to learn from, and train, other members of staff in areas of expertise which promotes the on-going professional development of our history teachers.

The history curriculum at KAA is designed to encompass the “whole game” of history as a discipline. This means the curriculum has been constructed to develop students’ skills and knowledge to achieve the very best grades expected at GCSE and A level, but to also give them an understanding of the importance of learning from the past.

We are an oversubscribed Outstanding school within a diverse community of London's Notting Hill.  Having opened in new buildings in 2014, we have established the school's motto of 'intrepidus' in all aspects of school life and pursue the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond.

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.

What you offer

With a diverse student base, we are looking for someone who has the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their best.

Be committed to enhancing the classroom experience of all students so that they develop a passion for history and a wider love of learning.

A history teacher who can provide effective and inspiring teaching to our students, of all abilities.

Closing date: 5pm on Wednesday 26th February 2020.

Interview date: Interviews will take place from 28th February 2020.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.
