The History department plays a pivotal role in shaping historical understanding and critical thinking. Our efficient marking, feedback, and homework policies maximize student outcomes while respecting the valuable time of our teachers. As a History Teacher at The Malling School, you will have the opportunity to:

• Teach History, impacting students up to and including Key Stage 5 (KS5).

• Engage in an extensive and personalised professional development program.

• Benefit from robust behaviour management systems.

• Participate in a bespoke induction program, coaching, Developmental Learning Walks, and ongoing feedback, contributing to the continuous development of your department.

• Significantly influence outcomes by contributing to the development and enhancement of the evolving History curriculum.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the ability to teach History to KS3 and GCSE levels (ability to teach beyond GCSE is preferable).

• Demonstrate innovation and reflectiveness in their teaching approach.

• Have a proven ability to achieve excellent historical understanding results for students.

• Be motivated by the desire to make a lasting impact on young lives.

• Bring enthusiasm and a values-driven approach to education.

All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Occupational Health check, two satisfactory references, an online check, and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check. The Malling School

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).

This is an exciting time to be joining the staff of The Malling School.

Our school is increasingly becoming the first choice school for parents. As a result we are currently oversubscribed. We have robust behavioural systems and Developmental Learning Walks, rather than formal observations. All of which allow a teacher to flourish and do what they do best – teach!

We provide a very supportive environment in which staff can further develop their skills and we ensure every new member of staff has access to a trained coach. With close teams of teachers and non-teachers working together we take a collaborative approach to school improvement and have a shared aim of providing the very best education for our pupils.
