Teacher of History

Temporary (maternity cover)

Full time

To commence 19 April 2022

The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.  The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work.  The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

Subjects within the thriving History and Politics Department are highly popular across the school.  The majority of our students study History up to and including IGCSE.  Both History and Politics are popular A Level choices, as is History within the IB Diploma Programme.  The students demonstrate a genuine interest in these subjects when making their public examination choices.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of History to join a highly experienced department of ten Historians in April 2022 on a temporary and full time basis.  The ability to teach Politics would be advantageous.

All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.

This will be a fixed purpose maternity cover contract of employment commencing on 19 April 2022 and terminating on the working day before the permanent post-holder returns.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

For further information about our school and this role, please visit www.godolphinandlatymer.com.  Fully completed application forms should be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com as soon as possible.  Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form.  CVs alone will not be accepted.

There is no closing date for this vacancy.

Applications will be considered on receipt and interviews may occur at any stage.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and responsibility.  Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity.  As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
