Our vision is to develop world class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible, and who go on to lead happy and successful lives. If you feel that you too could play a part in helping us achieve that vision, for every student, then this could be the role for you. We were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2022, with particular highlights as follows:

●       No low-level disruption was observed in any lessons. Pupils' conduct around the school is orderly and calm.

●       Pupils told inspectors that the clear and fair behaviour system helps them to behave well.

●       Relationships between staff and pupils are strong.

●       There is a high degree of consistency of teaching approaches across subjects and year groups

The Misbourne is an aspirational and friendly place to work where every student and member of staff is a valued member of our community. Whether you are starting out in your career or looking for your next challenge, our Humanities team has a breadth and depth of experience, with colleagues who thrive in a hard-working and innovative environment built over many years. With strong and consistent leadership, you can be assured of a genuine commitment to supporting your day-to-day practice and long-term professional development. History is a very popular and successful subject at both GCSE and at A-level and this is an exciting opportunity for the right colleague to join us, helping to shape and develop the subject onto the next phase in its development.

We are an 11-18 school in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in the heart of the Chilterns. We have just over 1000 students on roll including a successful and growing Sixth Form. Our staff tell us they genuinely feel like part of a team; a team who are striving to help each student flourish both academically and personally. We are the lead school for Careers in Bucks.

We can offer you:

●       Students who are a pleasure to teach

●       An experienced, friendly and collaborative team

●       The opportunity to teach this popular subject from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5

●       A well-resourced curriculum area

●       A supportive approach to workload that removes onerous marking requirements and prioritises whole class feedback

●       An evidence-informed approach to school improvement, only implementing what we feel will make the biggest difference to the lives and outcomes of young people, mindful of staff workload and well-being

●       A genuine commitment to support your career development through our CPDL programme and more INSET days than average

●       Your own laptop in addition to a desktop PC in your own dedicated classroom

●       A school that puts wellbeing at the top of their priorities and as such we provide a two week October half term

As Headteacher it gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the trustees, staff and students to welcome you to The Misbourne. Thank you for showing an interest in working with us.

This is a good school where every student really does matter and where our team of professional and passionate staff works hard to instil the belief in each of them that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.

We believe that there are three things that are important to working in a school. Firstly, the students. We are fortunate to have polite and respectful students with well-supported families who want to work hard and do well but for some, lack the self-belief to really achieve their full potential. Secondly, a supportive staff body and investment in continued professional development. Staff are happy to work here and are very rightly proud of their school. They are supported by a comprehensive training programme that takes into account individual roles as well as career progression and aspirations. We are linked to two teaching schools and take a lead role in delivering training sessions for trainees from across Buckinghamshire.

Thirdly, our facilities. We are fortunate to have excellent facilities across the curriculum including a new building for the Sixth Form, English department and school café; extensive playing fields; three new IT suites and brand-new multi-million pound sports centre including dance space and fitness suite (free to use for staff). We have recently transitioned to Google in preparation for Year 7 commencing blended learning using chromebooks from September 2023.We believe that there are no barriers to learning that cannot be overcome. We strive for educational excellence in every lesson, every day, through a climate of high expectations, which are actively promoted in all aspects of school life. The Misbourne provides a learning environment that allows all students to flourish through mutual respect, kindness and a strong desire to achieve.

Through inspiring teaching; excellent pastoral care and strong partnerships with families and the wider community, our students leave us with the qualifications, skills and values needed to lead happy and successful lives and we are looking for similarly dedicated and inspirational colleagues to join us.

This is such an exciting time for the school and we welcome applications from prospective employees who share our vision, values and aspirations for students.

If you would like to visit us and see for yourself, I would encourage you to make arrangements for a tour via the school office admin@themisbourne.co.uk. Staff and students are exceptionally proud of our school and we would love to show you around.

Mr Rich Peters (LL.B) Hons
