Teacher of History
Salary: Main scale (suitable for NQTs)
Contract: Permanent, full time
Start date: 1st September 2019
Closing date: Tuesday 26th February, 12 noon.
We are seeking to employ, from September 2019, an enthusiastic teacher of History to join our team of dedicated Humanities teachers. The successful applicant will be able to teach History up to GCSE, and there may be an opportunity to teach A level if desired.
Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school which strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.
The Humanities department is staffed by a team of energetic, dedicated and resourceful professionals who are very supportive of each other. Our students are well behaved, happy, engaging, and inquisitive individuals, who are proud to be Prince William students. We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.
The school is keen to support staff to develop both personally and professionally, and the successful candidate will be given training opportunities to suit their needs and career aspirations. If an NQT is appointed, they will benefit from the support of a mentor who is a Humanities teacher, as well as the supervision of a member of the Senior Leadership team with responsibility for Teaching and Learning.
This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding. In 2018, 67% achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, 45% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths, and our Progress 8 score was +0.31, with the gap between disadvantaged and other students closing by 0.45 compared with 2017, despite that gap widening nationally.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons for students of all abilities. In return the school offers a supportive Senior Leadership Team; a committed and caring department; good CPD and career development opportunities; and students with good attitudes to learning. There is also an onsite nursery run by a private company.
