Job overview

Outwood Academy Bydales and/or Outwood Academy Redcar.

The ability to teach another Humanity to GCSE would be desirable.

Outwood Academy Bydales seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. The position would be based at Outwood Academy Bydales and/or some deployment at Outwood Academy Redcar and therefore may requiring driving.

Set in the beautiful coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the North York Moors National Park, Outwood Academy Bydales is a medium-sized school with a strong record of rapid and sustained success.

In 2015, our first year as an Outwood school, students exceeded the best performance of the predecessor school by 13%, back when it had been judged outstanding by Ofsted. In January 2016, we were named as the highest performing school in the five Tees Valley authorities for valued added, and among the top 5% nationally. The percentage of students achieving C+ in English and maths rose again to 78% in 2016, and to 85% (at 4+) the following year. In 2017, at 75% students achieved the highest percentage of 5+ grades in both English and maths in the North East, and were second for Attainment 8 too.

The predecessor Redcar Academy has been supported by Outwood Grange Academies Trust for two years, and formally became Outwood Academy Redcar in October 2017. It is the second highest performing school in Redcar & Cleveland for progress of students, is 7th in the Tees Valley and 22nd in the North East, out of 149 mainstream schools. The academy too is on a journey of rapid improvement.

In short, these are exceptional places to build your future, whether you are a student keen to learn or a teacher determined to progress.

We are an Outstanding, 11-16 academy based in the picturesque coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the stunning North York Moors National Park. We have been part of the Outwood family of schools since 2014.

Since joining the Outwood Family, we have gone from strength to strength and we have seen improvement across all areas of school life. We believe in a collaborative approach, where we all support each other, staff and students, to achieve. During Ofsted’s last inspection, we were proud when the inspectors noted that the school’s ‘leaders are ambitious’ and ‘have high expectations of each other, staff and pupils.’ These expectations are the foundations of a true, supportive and collaborative approach.

We are proud that Outwood Academy Bydales is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and in its latest report, Ofsted noted that ‘staff morale is extremely high’ at the academy and that with help from other members of the Outwood Family, we provide our staff with a varied training programme.

We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us.
