Job overview

Newhouse Academy is a comprehensive secondary school, situated just off the M60 in the town of Heywood.

As part of the Hollingworth Learning Trust, we work closely with our partner school, Hollingworth Academy, (an outstanding local secondary school); and are on a school improvement journey to deliver rising academic standards.  Newhouse Academy has been chosen as one of 50 schools nationally to receive Government funding for building development, which will see many brand new facilities for students and the local community in the near future.  We have a fabulous team of staff, some excellent learning facilities and improving GCSE results across many subjects.

We are recruiting two Teachers of History to join the dedicated and talented team within our academy.  The ideal candidates will…

• Hold qualified teacher status;

• Share our drive towards ensuring that all students reach their desired, ambitious destinations;

• Be dedicated to improving the life chances of students at Newhouse Academy;

• If an experienced teacher, you will have credible results in your subject area over time.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark at an academy that has started an improvement journey and is already making huge steps in creating a high expectations culture.

Our journey started as a team in 2020 with the vision, ‘High expectations in all that we do.’  We believe in providing a world class education for our students and are committed to the continuous professional development of our staff.

If you have a strong character, energy, credibility and the ability to inspire; if you can motivate and challenge others; then join us in taking this journey.

In return, we offer:

• Membership of the Teachers’ Pension scheme

• Funded CPD for nationally recognised qualifications

• A package of health benefits from BUPA

• Free use of gym facilities

• Staff activities, including a Wellbeing Café, running/cycling/walking group, ‘Cake Friday’

• Ample car parking
