Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History to join, and become involved in, a successful department within our popular 11–18 comprehensive school. Standards are high, and the department is committed to developing the potential of every pupil in its care. To be successful, you will have the ability to teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the possibility of teaching A Level for the suitable candidate. NQTs are welcome to apply.
We currently have three full-time members of staff in our History department and further input into teaching History is provided by other qualified members of staff. In this position, you will be expected to teach across the ability range from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. At Key Stage 3 pupils are taught in sets.
- Year 7 have four lessons a fortnight, where they are taught the Romans and Medieval Realms 1066–1500.
- Year 8 have four lessons a fortnight. They study Britain 1500 – 1750, Britain 1750 – 1900 and Black Peoples of America.
- Year 9, 10 and 11 follow the Edexcel specification, where they have four lessons a fortnight.
- At Key Stage 5 the department follows AQA specification 1L and 2 D.
