Job overview

Would you like to take the opportunity to work in a rapidly improving school?  IES Breckland is on an upwards journey as recognised by Ofsted “Good leadership has resulted in the quality of teaching improving in key areas of the school. Some teaching is outstanding and this is leading to very strong progress” (November 2015).

The successful candidate will teach history across key stages 3 and 4 with a small number of lessons in other humanities subjects.  History is an increasingly popular subject at key stage 4 and the ability to offer additional subjects to expand our key stage 4 offering will be an advantage e.g. Business Studies or Health and Social Care.  Applications from NQTs will be very welcome, with the potential for a July 2017 start date.

You need to have flair and passion for your subject and be able to inspire our students to achieve their ambitions.  You will have the opportunity to work with like-minded teachers within the faculty.  We will offer continuous professional development opportunities for you to develop your teaching career within our school.  Staff also have the opportunity to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities including our annual Swedish exchange and Ski trips.

IES Breckland is a school for children aged between 11 and 16 and an important part of the community in Brandon, Suffolk.  We are a unique international school, where we are part of a large family striving for the success and happiness of our children as supported by our student ethos ‘Aim, Believe, Achieve’.

We want children to leave IES Breckland as well educated and socially developed individuals who are well prepared for the next stage in their lives.  “The Principal’s vision and commitment to the school, coupled with an ambition for every pupil to achieve as well as they can, has been adopted by the teaching and support staff” Ofsted 2015.

The school is a commutable distance from Cambridge, Ipswich and Norwich.
