Suitable for NQTs: Yes

Come and work in a school:

  • Where 82% of pupils achieved grades A* to B at GCSE last year
  • That seeks to nurture well-rounded, resilient students with a good compass for life
  • That produces outstanding academic results – top 150 schools
  • Committed to outstanding learning for pupils and staff

Ampleforth is one of Europe’s foremost Catholic boarding schools, committed to all round excellence and academic ambition. This post will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to join us in working with students to cultivate learning as an attitude, a value for life.

We require, for September 2018, a well-qualified, skilled and enthusiastic part-time Hospitality teacher to deliver the Level 3 BTEC National qualification. In the first instance, this will be to Extended Certificate level. The ability to teach both practical skills and theoretical knowledge is essential.

Hospitality is one of Ampleforth’s core Benedictine values.  The introduction of Hospitality as an academic subject looks to build on this, and capitalise on the College’s unique location and facilities, which include the St Laurence Cookery School (a well-equipped teaching kitchen), a commercial tea room and visitor accommodation.  This is one of three BTEC Nationals being introduced in September 2018, and there may well be opportunities for the right candidate to also contribute towards the delivery of the Enterprise & Entrepreneurship or Countryside Management qualifications, if desired.

We are looking for a teacher who is committed to giving students the confidence to search for answers, to be inquisitive and who can turn interests into enthusiasms.

The closing date for this role is Monday 30th April 2018 at 3pm.

Interviews will take place as soon as possible thereafter.

The Ampleforth Abbey Trust, St Laurence Education Trust and its Schools are committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people. They expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and will ensure that all recruitment and selection practices and procedures reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) along with other relevant employment checks.
