Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Humanities to join a school based in Birmingham.

About the role:

As a Teacher of Humanities, you will deliver outstanding teaching and learning which will help your students achieve excellent academic results. You will design an engaging and challenging curriculum that will inspire the pupils’ to appreciate the subject and its application.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons to the highest standard so pupils feel motivated and inspired by the subject. They want you to provide a nurturing classroom environment that helps the pupils grow as learners. You will contribute to developing your department and ensuring that as a team, you are committed to raising achievement.

You will be resilient and driven who can also work effectively in a team. You are also someone who understands the difference a great education can make to pupils lives, as you are a great role model for not only them but other teachers too. You enjoy being part of a great team and you have a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every student.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an excellent classroom teacher with the ability to reflect on lessons and continually improve your own practice  
  • Have effective and systematic behaviour management, with clear boundaries, sanctions, praise and rewards 
  • Good communication, planning and organisational skills 
  • Vision aligned with Ark’s high aspirations and high expectations of self and others 

About the School:

The school is a seven-form entry secondary school in the heart of Sparkhill. Their approach is summed up in the African proverb - “It takes a whole community to bring up a child”. They work together to ensure that each of their children can overcome barriers to learning, catch up where needed and achieve at the highest levels by working harder, behaving better and making faster progress than children in other schools and academies. They support their students to develop a lifelong love of learning; a sense of personal and civic pride and the confidence to not just navigate the modern world, but to shape it.
