Job overview

  Teacher of Humanities (MPS/UPS)

St Helena School is a highly-regarded 11-16 co-educational Academy, recognised as Good by Ofsted in 2014 and now on a journey to Outstanding. Located on 17 acres in historic Colchester, the school has a fine blend of traditional and modern facilities and opened a £2.5m new block in 2015.

We are seeking to appoint a talented, creative and dynamic individual as a Teacher of Humanities.

Are you…

· A clear thinker, able to elucidate with laser-like precision what it is that students need to know?

· Self-aware, reflective and committed to constant evaluation of your own impact?

· Relentlessly positive in outlook, able to embrace change and ‘make things happen’?

· Always ready for the unexpected, facing each new challenge with a smile?

Are you looking for a school where…

· You can make a significant personal contribution to a vibrant, forward-thinking Humanities team?

· A growth mindset is expected, and developing existing strength is considered as important as addressing weakness?

· Humanity and humour are seen to be essential qualities?

· You will be fully supported in your own professional development, whatever your aspirations?

If the answer is ‘yes’ to all of the above, then we’d love to hear from you!

Letters of application and the School’s application form should be emailed to Ms J Shone-Tribley, HR Manager (j.shone-tribley@sthsch.com) by midday on Wednesday 20 April 2017. An application pack can be obtained from our website: www.st-helena.essex.sch.uk

Headteacher’s Welcome

At St Helena School, our desire is to provide exciting opportunities, tailored for our young people.  Through collective learning, we create a legacy for those who follow.

Working with parents, Governors and wider partners, enables every student to be known, contribute to our community and fulfil their ambitions.  We have the privilege and great responsibility to develop tolerant, respectful citizens who will leave us with the tools to be a success and make the world a better place.

The importance of educating the whole child is reflected in our rich and broad extra-curricular offer.  We provide opportunity to craft life-long memories.  Students are encouraged to take part in trips, visits and activities throughout their time with us to feed cultural, sporting and creative appetites.

A prospectus can only give you a flavour of life at St Helena School.  We welcome you to visit our school, to see our teaching facilities, and more importantly, to feel the inclusive, vibrant and purposeful culture our young people create.
