Job overview

We are looking for an ambitious Teacher of Humanities who has History or Geography as their main specialist subject and the willingness and ability to teacher another Humanities subject to KS4.

The department has a proven record of helping to develop academic literacy within our students and a love of learning throughout KS3, which has translated into Humanities becoming the most widely selected option group at KS4. Staff within the department are supported to ensure the best results at KS4 and develop their pedagogy and curricula through collaboration and professional development within an infrastructure that facilitates experimentation and reflective practice.

Arts & Media School Islington is a popular and thriving comprehensive school situated in North London; a vacancy has arisen for a Humanities teacher within our community. The post holder will be able to teach History and Geography with at least one to KS4 and some Religious Education to KS3.

About Arts & Media School Islington

Arts & Media School Islington is a co-educational, comprehensive trust foundation school in north Islington, London. 

The Victorian school building was originally home to Montem Street School, later becoming known as Tollington Park Secondary School and, more recently, as George Orwell School.

In 2014, Arts & Media School Islington was selected to be one of 12 schools in London to participate in the Music in Secondary Schools Trust  (MISST) programme, which aims to develop team-working skills, improve discipline and enrich the learning of students through the creativity of music.

Key stage 3 students at Arts & Media School Islington receive an orchestral string instrument alongside compulsory musical education for three years, all free of charge.
