We seek to appoint a Teacher of Humanities on a permanent 1.0 FTE basis to join our team at George Pindar School. Applications are welcome from candidates who specialise in History or Geography.

We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic and highly motivated colleague to join our school as a Teacher of Humanities, This is at an exciting time as we continue our post-academisation journey to good. Joining our team as a Teacher of this popular subject area is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner to further support the development the Humanities curriculum which exists in school and prepare students to select this option at Key Stage 4. The school is very open to new initiatives and ideas and innovation is at the heart of our development; the current Humanities curriculum has been enhanced through collaboration with Hope Sentamu Learning Trust Subject Leads. Staff benefit from a wide range of professional development opportunities which are specific to the subject area or to wider school improvement and career enhancement, including network groups supported by Trust colleagues. There are opportunities to contribute to the wider school community through work as a form tutor and through whole-school initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who wishes to be at the heart of the school’s journey to Good.

The main focus of the Subject Teacher's role is fostering the learning and progress of the pupils in their care. This involves being an effective teacher of pupils as well as of the subject. Quality of preparation, resourcing, planning, subject expertise, teaching skill, pace, challenge, proactive classroom management, effective marking and assessment, high expectations, and positive personal relationships are all central to providing the conditions within which pupils' personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning and progress can be developed.
