Teacher of Humanities

High Well SchoolWakefield

High Well School is a Special School which caters for a minimum of seventy 11-16 year olds with an Education Health & Care Plan for severe and profound social, emotional and mental health needs as well as other learning difficulties. The School meets the needs of some of Wakefield’s most complex and vulnerable young people.

High Well endeavours to provide a nurturing environment with personalised support and specialist teaching to enable our pupils to re-engage in learning, develop their social and emotional skills and leave with not only appropriate qualifications but the skills required to succeed in life after school. This is reflected in our vision of ‘Preparing for Positive Futures’.

Due to expansion of the school, the Governing Body are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate, and committed Humanities teacher with a track record of excellent outcomes for pupils.  The successful candidate will be able to plan and deliver an engaging and personalised Humanities curriculum focusing on preparing pupils for post 16 provision.  This will be achieved through securing appropriate accreditation and developing a range of skills which will equip pupils for the future.  The school welcomes applications from experienced secondary teachers from mainstream or special schools with a secure knowledge of both BTEC and GCSE qualifications in Humanities at KS4.  We will also consider applications from outstanding NQTs.

If you are successful in your application you will join a good school on its journey to its next level of development.  There are no two days the same at High Well School where every day is exciting and where you will be utilising the excellent support systems in place. Class sizes in High Well are restricted to ten pupils, with highly talented and experienced teaching assistant support for every group to ensure pupils develop secure relationships with staff and enable personalised planning and delivery.  The school offers a truly bespoke and comprehensive induction package for new staff followed up with outstanding CPD.  The successful candidate would benefit from opportunities for further professional development and career progression as we value and support our staff in all aspects of school life.

If you like the idea of working with a talented school team, we would strongly encourage an onsite or virtual visit to the school.  Visits can be arranged by calling 01924 572100 asking to speak with the HR Manager or email:
