Teacher of ICT and Computer Science
Start August 2018
SIS is a reasonably young school that opened its doors in August 2012 with a founding campus in Penang. Since then, we have grown rapidly but still retain the advantages of a small school, most notably the family feel and the warmth of the community. This is an exciting time for the group, as we have now settled into a new purpose built campus in Penang and are establishing another campus in Rawang, close to Kuala Lumpur. For the coming year, we seek to fill the following position;
· Teacher of ICT and Computer Science (UK experience preferred)
We are becoming a google classroom school next academic year so we are looking for a candidate who may be familiar with this. We would also like someone who would be willing to teach Year 4 – Year 11 and possibility of covering for A-Levels in future. We are also looking to introduce Computer Science as well as maintaining ICT as options for KS4 in the following academic year. We are particularly keen to accept applications from candidates who are research engaged and strong in CPD. This post would suit ambitious individuals keen for career development and with outstanding initiative and drive. There may also be an opportunity for a Head of Department position.
As a school, we pride ourselves on the level of care we give to our students. The motto, ‘Not for me, Not for you, But for us,’ really captures what we are trying to do. We aim to combine academic rigour with a key sense of kindness, personal responsibility and determination to overcome challenges.
We therefore need staff that work hard, stay flexible and are resilient in the face of challenges. We value staff who will do all they can to push the school forward, be proactive and have the interests of the wonderful students at heart. In return, they will find fantastic children, the personal freedom to be innovative in what they teach and the trust to help develop the school and shape its future.
The quality of life in Penang is very high and it offers a wide range of activities and food to try. Penang has long served as the link between Asia’s great kingdoms and an important outlet to the markets of Europe and the Middle East. At its heart is diverse, cosmopolitan George Town, Penang Island's main city and an urban centre that delivers old-world Asia in spades. Malaysia is often referred to as ‘easy Asia’, as you can stroll through streets filled with exceptional art, amazing cafes and interesting shops. In contrast, you can visit one of the many western malls that house stores from the UK, Australia and the US. It is voted as one of the top ten places in the world to live!
Our salaries are competitive, and our staff, although perhaps paid less than in the UK, have good savings potential. Apartments are provided and the quality of life here is excellent. We believe that everyone should enjoy coming to school!
You are more than welcome to take a look at our website which has a wealth of information on our great school. http://penang.sisgroup.edu.my/careers/
