Job overview

Wootton Park School (WPS) is seeking to appoint an inspirational full time Teacher of KS1 to join our current talented team from April 2018. Whilst the role is initially for maternity cover, the position is available as a permanent position due to the growing needs of our school. This role is therefore permanent and will be required to teach Year 1 learners for the remainder of the 2017/18 academic year and have the ability to teach Year 2 in the 2018/19 academic year onwards.

WPS opened in 2016 with two Reception and four Year 7 classes. In the 2017/2018 academic year, WPS has grown to include two Year 1 classes and four Year 8 classes. Currently a small school, we will grow exponentially year on year and are in the exciting stages of planning and building our new £20 million school premises facilities which will be completed for September 2019, ready for when WPS reaches its full capacity of 1,260 learners.

Whilst WPS await the opening of our new facilities, we operate in an outstanding first class temporary building without limitations. Our building includes: large spacious free flow classrooms in early years, independent primary learner access in and out of the building with outdoor playgrounds and playing fields for enriched learning. We also accommodate our in-house wrap-around (breakfast and afternoon) club onsite. The high standard of our temporary building facilities will enable it to remain in use as additional space when our new school premises opens.

As you can imagine, WPS is in an exciting stage of its journey. With school growth there is an expediential amount of potential to grow responsibilities and develop your career. Our school Coaching Policy promotes and supports our staff in achieving their own goals and professional development and staff achievements are acknowledged.

WPS offers a first-rate and unique learning environment, ensuring high levels of academic achievement and personal development for all, while promoting the value of public service and building a stronger society. As an all-through (4-19) school, we believe this brings a significant number of benefits to learners and staff, and we seek staff who share this vision with us.

The ideal candidate will therefore be totally committed to securing the best outcomes for all our learners and will ‘go the extra mile’ to do this. You will ensure provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for learners studying in the curriculum area, in accordance with the aims of WPS and the curricular policies. You will be required to support the overall progress and development of learners within your curriculum area.

All members of our team must be committed to maximising potential and continuous improvement, and be willing to participate fully in all aspects of school life within and beyond the classroom. Our quest for excellence, must, however, also be combined with our unwavering commitment to care and support. Therefore, anyone seeking appointment to this role must demonstrate warmth, humour, resilience, and above all, emotional intelligence in order to uphold the values of our school.

Whilst an Ofsted report is not yet available since our first inspection has not yet taken place, we have huge ambition for our school and will be outstanding in all aspects. A recent DfE monitoring inspection held in October 2017 provided the following positive comments:

“The senior leaders and staff work hard with high morale and talent to provide excellent opportunities for learning in lessons and beyond”.

“The school is truly innovative”.

“The pupils are confident, self-assured learners”.

If you are inspired by this exceptional opportunity to join us at this early stage of our journey to excellence, we want to hear from you.

WPS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Offer of a position is subject to receiving satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS Disclosure.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Please note we do not accept CVs and references will be applied for at the shortlisting stage.

Application closing date: 21st November 2017.

Interview date: w/c 27th November 2017.

WPS maintain the right to close the application process early if necessary.
