Job overview

“Geography is linked to everything”, the view that many of St Peters students have while studying our broad and balanced Geography curriculum. We have the opportunity to change students’ lives for the better and you could make a positive impact at St Peter’s School.

Geography is currently taught across KS3 to KS5 at St Peters, and the department prides itself on providing a broad and inventive curriculum that is applicable to them in the 21st century. We go beyond the National Curriculum where we can, giving students the opportunity to study topics such as glaciation within year 7 which our students absolutely love learning about.  We also try to provide different experiences for our students, going beyond the traditional classroom with workshops such as Restless Earth, and Urban Plan being made available to them.

This is an exciting time within the faculty, particularly in terms of the development of Geography provision. We have implemented a new and engaging curriculum, and you will have the opportunity to be part of the continued development of this and the continued work towards Geography becoming the option of choice within Humanities. This role is an opportunity to focus on KS3 teaching, and we are flexible in whether this is a full time or part time role. The role provides opportunities to contribute to planning, schemes of work, assessment and develop fieldwork provision throughout our KS3 curriculum. We also keen to develop extra-curricular provision within the department through an Eco schools project or similar.

We are currently seeking to employ a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of KS3 Geography to join our expanding team in motivating and supporting our students. Humanities is a popular faculty within the school and all students at KS4 choose a Humanities option from History, Ancient History and Geography. At KS5 we offer Geography, History, Sociology and Psychology. Geography is one of the more popular GCSEs within the Humanities options and this is also offered as an additional option alongside this with a good number of students choosing both Geography and History. A large part of this success is our strong KS3 curriculum provision.

The Humanities Department is an innovative, experienced and collaborative team who strive to guide our students towards their goals. You will be joining a well-organised, supportive team of professionals. The department is well resourced, and staff are committed and hard-working. You will receive high quality support and CPD from expert colleagues who will coach and guide you through your professional development. This is an ideal opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive environment.
