Teacher of KS3/KS4 (various subjects)

Permanent PostHorizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of Abbey Hill Academy, Westlands Academy, Hollis Academy and Green Gates Academy. The academies serve a population of over 500 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties. Westlands Academy, where this post will be situated, provides for approximately 85 pupils aged 11 to 16 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. 

The Trust is seeking to appoint a Teacher to join their team at Westlands Academy in Thornaby, Stockton. We are looking for a teacher who has the skills to work with young people who have a variety of special educational needs, giving particular attention to their social, emotional and mental health difficulties as well as educational requirements.

The successful candidate will join an experienced and successful team who are committed to high standards in promoting the education and welfare of young people with SEMHD. We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where staff are valued and nurtured.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers from a secondary background. It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent knowledge on a variety of subjects and can deliver at least one subject to Entry Level & GCSE standard as well as having good communication and interpersonal skills and the flexibility and willingness to offer a range of subjects.
Candidates must have an interest in Special Educational Needs and have a very patient, calm and resilient nature and a resolve to make a real difference to the lives of children. Previous experience of working with students with SEMHD would be an advantage but not essential
