Job overview

Altrincham Preparatory School is a successful and thriving private preparatory day school in the heart of Trafford. It is an all-boys school with currently around 300 pupils from ages 2 to 11. Established in 1936, we are proud of our heritage.

We care about each individual boy and pride ourselves in the warmth of our community. You will find our boys feel valued and that we expect the highest standards from all. Our boys are to be imbued with self-awareness, confidence in their own abilities, resilience and independence of thought and are taught to be strong enough to stand up not only for themselves but also for a greater purpose.

Our school’s single most important resource in delivering its aim of all-round excellence is its teaching staff. They are at the core of everything we do. We are looking for individuals who value and want the best for their pupils, who are first-rate, creative and engaging practitioners and who carry a passion, be this academic or outside the realm of academia, that they wish to share. We want teachers who have the drive and ambition to make a difference, build their own professional reputation and to make their own mark within the school.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, creative, imaginative and driven languages teacher who works with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team. In this recruitment campaign we are looking to appoint a part-time (0.7 FTE) French and Spanish teacher to teach EYFS through to Year 6 from 1 September 2023.

If you feel that you hold the same values as us and possess the attributes that dovetail with the above position then we shall be delighted to hear from you.

Altrincham Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils’ welfare is the responsibility of all APS staff and individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of our organisation. The appointment will be conditional, subject to all satisfactory pre-employment checks being completed and confirmation of academic qualifications. The post will be confirmed on receipt of all references and of a satisfactory outcome from an enhanced disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Please apply in confidence by completing the School’s standard application form (CVs alone will not be accepted). Applications should be addressed to Mr Nick Vernon, Headmaster and submitted along with a letter of application to vacancies@altprep.co.uk. An application form and job description can be downloaded from TES, the school website or obtained by contacting the school office (0161 9283366 / vacancies@altprep.co.uk).

Closing date for applications is Noon on Friday 24 February 2023. Interviews will take place either week commencing 27 February or 6 March. If you have not been contacted by this time, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

APS is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
