Are you a well-qualified teacher of Law A-level who is looking for the chance to lead and develop the subject in a recently opened secondary school Sixth Form? Would you like to join and contribute to our dynamic and growing Humanities team? This is a rare opportunity for a passionate teacher of Law, who can also offer another subject, to grow and develop their career in an exciting setting.
Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. It is situated in Tadpole Garden Village. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7 and 8 and our first cohort of Year 12 students formed our new Sixth Form in September 2019. This includes a strong group of A-level Law students.
This role will provide the successful applicant with the chance to further develop and teach Law A-level in both year 12 and year 13. The course has begun strongly but we require more teaching time as the Sixth Form grows, meaning that Law A-level would form an increasing part of the successful applicant’s timetable over time. Initially we would require the successful candidate to offer another subject – any KS3 subject, or A-level courses such as Business Studies, Sociology, English, Psychology, Politics or a humanities subject would be appropriate. Please be clear in your application what other subject(s) you are able to offer.
You will join an extremely strong and well-qualified Humanities team and we will ensure you are well supported to enjoy and develop your own practice, whether you are an NQT or more experienced. There is the potential for this role to develop as the school and Sixth Form grows, with various leadership opportunities becoming available in future years, both subject and whole-school based. Our priority is very much to recruit the best classroom practitioners who can ensure our students arrive at the Academy excited about the day ahead and leave each day talking about the excellent learning they have experienced.
The successful candidate will also have the chance to contribute to our enrichment programme which runs for all students from 3.10 to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday. This provides opportunities to work with students in an area of your own interest to broaden and deepen their range of experiences at school.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. Our brand new building – national Educational Building of the Year 2019 - and our state-of-the-art facilities help us to achieve this, but it is the fantastic team of staff who turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire students in the classroom and beyond then this provides you with an exciting opportunity to further shape your practice and develop your career.
